[OpenLayers-Users] gif or png default?

First off congrats on the release guys! It's looking good.

I hit a snag for a bit that I just figured out. I wasn't able to get my
layers on top of any of the default provided layers. The reason for
this is that by default it was sending requests for jpeg to my servers.
Jpeg can't be transparent, so it never returned things right.

I then tried to adjust the additional parameters, but to no avail.
Finally I figured out it was sending _two_ format params to my server.
What happened was the format key value pair only would override if it
was 'format' - all lower case.

So it'd be nice if it'd override no matter what the case, or if this was
at least documented somewhere. Or if the default was gif or png instead
of jpeg.

But props on making it super easy to add a new WMS. And layer controls
are even easier to do than on Google Maps.

For a little comparison of what I hacked out, see:

(compare gmaps: http://geo.openplans.org/cholmes/nyc.html)

One other slight note, that you can see pretty clearly in that example,
is that the octo wms is pretty off for manhattan, relative to the sat
and the tiger line we've got.

keep up the good work,

Chris
