Oops, sorry! :-|

Please ignore the last email. I've just realised it was a very silly error :-) 
Namely if mode is 3, it returns false before any of the preventative actions 
occur.

Always seems to work this way, when you're trying to solve something you 
overlook the blindingly obvious....
