[OpenLayers-Users] open WMS for Germany (or using GMap's Satellite data?)

Hi,

I would like to use openlayers instead of Google Map (to prevent not getting 
too deep into the GMap trap). The problem is where I could get a WMS for 
Germany/Switzerland/Austria from, since as far as I know there is no good 
public geographical data available for these countries.

An Alternative would be to use OpenLayers.Layer.Google with the Google's 
Satellite imagery for the mean time (to keep the dependency "low") and maybe 
switch later to a WMS with freely available data. Any experience by other 
users on how well  OpenLayers.Layer.Google is working together with Google?
